Severe Floods in Feni, Bangladesh: Urgent Aid Needed
The severe flooding in Feni, located in the southeastern region of Bangladesh, has paralyzed life in the area. In floodwaters, which have risen up to chest height, hundreds of people are struggling to reach safe areas by carrying their belongings above their heads to keep them dry.
CITY SUBMERGED UNDER WATER
Since Wednesday night, the flood has submerged 11 districts, with the city of Feni, which has a population of approximately 1.5 million, being largely covered by water.
Access to the flood-stricken areas is only possible by boat, as the main roads are closed. Power outages and communication disruptions are slowing down rescue efforts. At least 42 people have been reported dead, and approximately 5 million individuals have been affected by this disaster.
