Arbi, my youngest daughter, is my greatest supporter. Each day, her tiny feet walk miles with me. It breaks my heart but also fills me with pride. The nearest water source is four hours away. Rain graces us only three times a year. So, every morning, we set out early. Together, Arbi and I cross rocky paths and sandy hills. The sun burns above us, but we have no other choice.

Arbi is always patient. At her tender age, she has become my greatest strength. Even when she's tired, she never complains. Along the way, we sometimes pause to rest in the shade. Seeing her happiness when we finally reach the water is worth everything. When she splashes water on her face with her tiny hands, I feel a bit of relief. But I know this joy is fleeting. We still have hours of walking ahead to return home.

Sometimes, I don't want to believe how unforgiving this land can be. But this is our home. Arbi and I share the water with our animals. Like us, they also depend on it. My name is Ahmed. As a family of five, we strive to survive amidst the turmoil of conflict and famine. Providing for a family under such circumstances is one of the hardest challenges one could face.
Every morning, I would look at my family’s faces with a sense of helplessness. Despair seemed to define my existence. I had no job opportunities and no means to support my family. All we had was hope, and even that felt like a distant dream.

In the midst of this despair, I received news from Just Human International Aid Association. They announced a livelihood support project for our village. At first, it sounded too good to be true. Soon, I learned that they were going to help us set up a small grocery shop.
